Terms of service

The essentials of using Elsewhere VPN: your account, your subscription, and the responsibilities that keep the service working.

At a glance

  • Paid plans renew monthly until canceled. There is no free trial.
  • The Personal plan covers up to five registered VPN devices.
  • The voluntary refund offer is 14 days from your first-ever payment, once per customer for life.
About these terms

These terms describe use of the Elsewhere VPN website, apps, and VPN service under the SAMUR4I brand. They should be read with our Privacy policy and Refund policy.

Payment-provider terms shown at checkout also apply to the transaction.

Your account and devices

You must be legally able to agree to the terms that apply to your use. Where parental or guardian authorization is required, obtain it before using the service. Use an email address you control, verify it, and keep your password and verification links secure.

An account alone does not provide paid VPN access. The Personal plan allows up to five registered VPN devices; a device uses a slot even while disconnected. Website sign-ins do not use slots. You can remove old devices through Device manager.

Do not resell access, share credentials publicly, or bypass subscription or device limits. You are responsible for authorized use of your account and should remove unrecognized devices and change a compromised password.

Price, payment, and renewal

The Personal plan is currently $7.99 USD per month, plus applicable tax. The price, currency, tax, and payment terms shown at checkout apply to your purchase. Your first payment is charged at checkout; there is no free trial. The subscription then renews monthly until canceled.

Payments are handled through Stripe Managed Payments. Stripe is the merchant of record for those transactions and handles payment processing and applicable transaction taxes. The payment page and receipt identify the seller/payment terms for your transaction.

VPN access starts after payment is confirmed and lasts for the paid period unless a refund, deletion, dispute, or authorized suspension ends it sooner. An incomplete or failed renewal does not grant another paid period. Update payment information through Your account → Manage subscription.

We will provide notice of material price or subscription changes as required, so you can review them and cancel before an affected renewal. We do not promise that today’s price or location catalog will remain unchanged forever.

Cancellation and refunds

Cancel future renewal through Your account → Manage subscription. With an ordinary cancellation, you keep access until the paid period ends. Uninstalling the app, closing it, or signing out does not cancel the subscription.

The voluntary money-back offer covers your first-ever payment when requested within 14 days, once per customer for life. Renewals and later subscriptions are excluded. Deleting an account or creating another with the same email does not reset eligibility.

Use Request a 14-day refund on Your account when eligible. A refund cancels the subscription and ends VPN access. Refunds go to the original payment method and may take several days to appear. Cancellation and deletion do not automatically request a refund.

Read the Refund policy for full details. Mandatory consumer rights and Stripe’s applicable refund rules take precedence over limitations in this voluntary offer.

Acceptable use

Use Elsewhere VPN lawfully and respect other people’s rights. Do not use the service to:

  • Commit fraud, distribute unlawful material, exploit children, or infringe others’ rights.
  • Send spam, distribute malware, launch denial-of-service attacks, or access systems without permission.
  • Disrupt our infrastructure or other customers, misuse account credentials, or evade access controls and device limits.
  • Resell or commercially redistribute the service without permission.

We may investigate credible abuse reports using information available to us and take proportionate action to protect users and the service. These rules do not mean we record browsing activity.

Availability and protection limits

Use the Downloads page to check released apps and the Server status page to check available locations. Coming soon locations and platforms are not yet available. Speeds depend on your connection, location, destination, and server load. No plan-based speed cap is a product feature, not a guaranteed speed.

Availability can be affected by maintenance, network failures, device settings, or restrictions imposed by networks and websites. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, access to a particular streaming catalog, or operation on every network.

A VPN protects traffic routed through its tunnel. Disconnecting ends that protection. Essential operating-system traffic may bypass the tunnel. A VPN does not replace safe browsing practices, prevent every scam or malware infection, or hide your identity from services you sign in to. See our connection protection guide.

Suspension and account deletion

We may restrict access when payment is not confirmed, a device is revoked, an account is being deleted, or credible misuse or a security issue requires action. Where practical and appropriate, we will explain the reason and allow the issue to be corrected. Urgent security or legal situations may require action first.

You can permanently delete your account through Your account, using your password and a final confirmation. Deletion cancels subscription renewal and ends VPN access. It removes your login and devices once cleanup completes. Limited financial, security, and refund-eligibility records may remain as described in the Privacy policy.

You may create a new account later, but deleted account data and subscriptions are not restored. Request an eligible refund before deletion to use the account’s refund controls. Deletion does not waive mandatory legal rights.

Software, responsibility, and your rights

We permit you to use the official app for your own authorized use of the service, subject to these terms and any applicable software licenses. Third-party and open-source components retain their own licenses. You retain the rights you have in your own information.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided as available, without guarantees beyond the commitments expressly made to you. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, limits mandatory consumer protections, or removes rights relating to fraud or other non-excludable conduct.

Consumer protections and dispute rights may depend on where you live.

Changes and help

We may update these terms as the service develops. Material changes will be communicated as required and will not retroactively remove rights you already have. The date on this page identifies the latest update.
